Itinerary!

After breakfast in Marrakech, we embark on a scenic drive to Imlil, passing through the vibrant market town of Asni. Imlil, the starting point for many treks, is alive with people returning from the mountains and others preparing for their own adventures. We meet our mule team, load our gear, and begin our trek along the valley towards Tacheddirt, about 8 km from Imlil. As we ascend to the Tizi n'Tamatert pass (2,279m), the views become even more breathtaking. From there, we descend into the charming village of Ouaneskra, and after a short walk, we reach Tacheddirt (2,300m), where we set up camp by the river. Total trek time: 5/6 hours.

We cross the valley and begin a gradual ascent towards Tizi Likemt (3,555m). The terrain is challenging with loose scree underfoot, but the panoramic views of the Toubkal massif make the climb worthwhile. Once we reach the pass, we are rewarded with stunning views before descending steeply to the village of Azib Likemt, where we camp for the night. Total trek time: 6/7 hours.

Today's trek takes us through diverse landscapes, from rocky paths to lush valleys. After crossing Tizi n'Ououraine (3,120m), we continue with sweeping views of the Toubkal massif, including the summit and the towering Ifni Dome (3,876m). Our journey ends in the picturesque village of Amsouzert, where we stay in a traditional Berber gite. Total trek time: 7 hours.

We explore a series of small Berber villages on our way to Ifni Lake, the only lake in the massif, surrounded by majestic mountains and deep, clear waters. Arriving by lunchtime, we have the afternoon to relax along the lakeshore. After a restful break, we camp nearby, taking in the tranquility of the surroundings. Total trek time: 4 to 5 hours.

Having acclimatized, we face the most strenuous day of the trek. We ascend a steep, endless scree slope before reaching the pass at Tizi n'Ouanoums (3,664m), where we enjoy dramatic views from the narrow rock ledge. The descent to Nelter Hut is long and winding, and we spend the night at the mountain refuge, or camp outside, depending on conditions. Total trek time: 6 to 7 hours.

An early start takes us to the summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167m), North Africa's highest peak. The ascent, typically taking 2 to 3 hours, rewards us with panoramic views of the Atlas Mountains and the plains of Marrakech. We then descend rapidly, passing the villages of Sidi Chamharouch and Aremd, following the lush Mizane River trail to Imlil. From here, we return to Marrakech by car. Total trek time: 9 to 10 hours.
